Sign up here.

BIG thanks to On The Move Physical Therapy & Pilates and GymClass both in Belmont for their generous support to make this a truly free community event!

Can my child/mom/husband/cousin/grandma participate with me?

Absolutely! No limit on age. And, the youngest kids are absolutely invited. Please be advised that there will be many people of all ages and genders wearing Dolly-inspired outfits that may or may not include enhanced bosoms, parents, do with that what you will.

When and where is the performance on Halloween night?

It is on the mid-Peninsula on Halloween night. Because we want the flash mob to be a true flash mob — ie, the people around us have no idea it’s happening ahead of time — and because we’ve selected a very busy location that really doesn’t need additional onlookers, we will let you know the exact address and time at the rehearsals, so that only those who are for sure attending as dancers know the address. (Thanks for your understanding!)

Do I have to know how to dance?

No, all levels of dance knowledge/experience are invited and everyone can find a part that works for them! What’s really key here is that we want a MOB effect — that means lots of people doing the dance imperfectly is WAY more effective than a few people doing it perfectly. So we want everyone to come and enjoy, even if they don’t consider themselves dancers or don’t feel like they have every move perfect.

What happens on Halloween night?

Dress up beforehand — we’ll give tips during the rehearsals. You’re invited to the location early, to hang with fellow Flash Mobbers and apply makeup/last-minute touches, or you can do makeup at home and show up much later. Arrive at the location at least 20 minutes before the start — the area is crowded and I recommend Uber, getting dropped off, or walking to the spot since parking will be very difficult — or arrive even more in advance to allow you time to walk from a distant parking spot. (Treat it like it’s San Francisco on a Friday night.) Then at the specified time, come together at a designated spot where we’ll start up the music on a big speaker and start dancing!

Does this cost money?

No, this is a free community event.

Do I dress up?

Yes! For 2026, our theme is Dolly Parton so for Halloween night we invite all our participants to dress up in the Dolly of their choice: country Dolly, 9 to 5 Dolly, rhinestone Dolly… and yes we invite all ages and genders to dress as Dolly. Time to start combing the thrift stores for blond wigs!

Are we doing zombie Dolly?

No, we will not be zombiefying Dolly as she just recently passed away and that would be in poor taste.
